Stepping motions for index driving and rotary index tables

Index drives and rotary index tables execute a stepping motion on the output shaft when the input shaft turns continuously.

Rotary index tables

rotoblock - index drive

The MIKSCH rotoblock index drive is based on a globoidal cam. The input and output shaft are situated rectangularly to each other. The direction of rotation of the input and output shafts can be selected at will.

Standard number of stations: 1-24

Cycles/min: up to 1.000

Torque: up to 13.000 Nm

Design: as installation kit or as housed unit with and without drive

Selection:

Rotoblock index drive (dimension sheet) (German)

RIGIDIAL - rotary index table

The MIKSCH RIGIDIAL rotary index table is based on a globoidal cam. The input shaft is positioned rectangular to the axis of the rotary table.

Standard number of stations:2-32

Cycles/min: up to 100

Torque: up to 20.000 Nm

Design: as housed unit with and without drive

Selection:

RIGIDIAL rotary index table (dimension sheet)

CF 2 - index drive

The MIKSCH CF 2 index drive is based on a cylinder cam. The input axis is rectangular to the output axis. The direction of rotation of the input and output shafts can be selected at will.

Standard number of stations:3-24

Cycles/min: up to 300

Torque: up to 1.500 Nm

Design: installation kit

Selection:

CF2-stepping motions (DE)

INTERMICO - rotary index

The MIKSCH INTERMICO rotary index table is based on a cylindrical cam. The input shaft, as with the RIGIDIAL rotary index table, lies rectangular to the axis of the rotary table.

Standard number of stations: 2-32

Cycles/min: up to 100

Torque: up to 60.000 Nm

Design: as housed unit with and without drive

Special feature of INTERMICO rotary index tables: Suitable for heavy loads, high mass moments of inertia and harsh ambient conditions.

Selection:

CF 3 - index drive

The MIKSCHCF 3 index drive is based on a complementary disk cam. The input shaft is arranged in parallel to the output shaft. The output shaft always rotates in the opposite direction to the input shaft.

Standard number of stations: 1-8

Cycles/min: up to 1.000

Torque: up to 6.000 Nm

Design: as installation kit or as housed unit with and without drive

Selection:

CF3-stepping motions (DE)

Application example rotary index table

Index drive

e.g. for:

- driving a plate conveyor

Components are supplied in linear fashion. They are held in a fixture, rotated by 180° and discharged in linear fashion.

Straight-line mechanism (linear movement from A to B)

An index drive drives a straight-line mechanism wich moves a tool in linear fashion and swivels it, in addition, when passing a crank.

Link mechanism with "articulated arm"

By varying arm lengths and transmissions and angles of input, the coupling curves can be realised within wide limits.

Gear boxes with different circumferential speeds

Driven drum has different circumferential speeds on the circumference between the first an 2nd 180°.

Longitudinal movement with index drive

Recurring linear movement of a slide is driven via crank and link by means of an index drive.

Index drive

By combining a 2-station index drive with a downstream thrust crank drive the system generates a straight traversing movement - the forward point passes through an exact straight line with defined end positions.

Straight-line mechanism (linear movement from A to B)

A straight-line mechanism allows travelling to any position on a straight line from which tools can be removed or inserted. However, a controlled drive is required for this purpose.

Link mechanism with "articulated arm"

The coupling curve can be adjusted within wide limits by changing the lengths of the lever as well as the transmission of the belt stage.

Applications:

For various automation tasks

Gear boxes with different circumferential speeds

The task consists of realising exactly defined speed curves during a time progression - e.g. Sheet feeders in printing press.

Longitudinal movement with index drive

Slide is moved in linear fashion via crank on index drive. Defined standstills at the reversing points are achieved by the index drive.
